The Batteries.—To-day, nearly all thebatteries dependent upon water for motive power ware started once more after standing idle about fourteen days. The Herald is crushing on behalf of the North Devon Company. The Alburnia is crushing with six head only for the company, the remainder being occupied by tributers. New Golden Crown.—Operations in this mino were resumed this morning, as well as the full force of the battery being started crushing for the company.

The following mine managers' reports were received yesterday : —

Bbeak O'Day (Cokomandei,).— IVe liavo driven 00 feet this last fortnight trying to pick up tho leader, bat havo not succeeded yet farther than getting good prospects by crashing loose stono out of tho surface.— J. T. Boyd. New Golden Pah (Cohomandsl).—Two drives aro being pushed on as fast as possible, and surface proepectlngs continued. Crushing will be commenced as soon as possible.—W. G. Martin. Success (Coromandel). —A telegram was received yesterday to tho following effect:—To-day specimen. gold and' rich specimens of stone; more showing.— Golden Stab.—Two men are cutting through tho largo treef In the footwall, but thoy have not got through it. The hangingwall portion of the reef is flinty looking, and, as I think, we are nearlng the footwall, tho quartz has a more kindly appearance, with more mineral and showing good colours of gold.—H. ©OWE. Moaxataiari,—During past fortnight no time has boon lost in trying to get out as much gold as possible, and from tho mining cost sheet that the largest portion of this has come from No. 3 reef, above 133 ft level. The atnff from this stope has fallen off considerably this week or wo should have had more gold. The stones havo now broken into old workings in the winze sunk down 14ft below tho old 70ft level. —Morning Star: A rise has been put through from back of stope to surface, on a leader 10 inches thick; but of low gride. After to-day my services in connection with the company will cease. I havo had charge of your mine for a period of seven years, ending last May, and during that time vigorous operations have been carried on. The following figures will speale fei themselves :-93,978 tons of quartz have been treated, yielding 109,537 ounces of gold. The dividends paid therefrom amount to £05,981, in addition to clearing off the heavy millstone of debt which formerly oppressed the company, and which, I trust, will not occur again. At the present tine the concern will require careful nursing, with skilled management. Soring last fortnight we havo crushtd 19* tone of stuff, including ICOlbs picked stone, for a yield of 187 /unces retorted sold.—Kobt. Comkr . ■ .
