SEVERE WEATEER IN TEE SOUTH.
FBI' TELEGRAPH.—PBES.S ASSOCIATION.] Geeyjioutii, Sunday. A COLD wind swept over Greymouth last night. It was raining about 8 o'clock, when a sudden chill took place, and a sharp hailstorm, followed for some time. About haltpast 8 o'clock it beean to snow heavily in lar*e flakes, and continued till about 11.30, when about three inches of snow covered the roofs of houses, and other exposed places. It set in cold about 1 o'clock, and in the morning, the snow which had fallen aurin" the nialit was frozen hard. The whole country 7s frozen, and the flats and treee are white. The flats and forest trees are covered, while-all the puddles m the streets are frozen in. Snow is still lying in shady places. Mount Cook and all the other ranges in view this morning, are covered with a thick mantle of snow. Snow has ncitbeen seen here for three years, and then only a slight fall. A heavy sea has Ijeen rolling in on the bar all night. DtJNEDiK, Sunday. Two inches of snow fell last night.
