[by telegraph.] THE CASE EDGAR V. MONTRO3E. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The following letter was declined insertion in the Waikato Times of to-day, and as the matter to which it relates is of considerable interest to a large number of your leaders in this district, I ask you to insert it. To-day's leader in that journal grossly misrepresents the facts of the case Edgar v. Moutrose, and I shall probably send you a substantially true statement for Saturday or Monday's issue,—l am, &c, W, MacGregor Hay/. Hamilton, June 23. TO THE EDITOIt OF THE WAIKA.TO TIMES. Sin,—ln case my silence should bo interpreted a concurrence in the correctness of your report of the above ease, will you kindly give insertion to the following? I deny that the evidence published in evidence taken in the case, Edgar v. Montrose : and further state that the remarks of the Eesident Magistrate, Jlr. Scale, and myself in the case, are neither fully nor correctly given, and are calculated to mislead. The state of my health forbids my doing so to-day, but if you will penult; me, I will ia your Saturday's issue poini out some particulars which fully bear out the assertions I have made, and the spirit of fairness which you have hitherto shown in giving publicity to all shades of opinion, warrants in believing that 1 shall not bo driven to the columns of a foreign newspaper to publish the truth.—l am, &c, Wit. AlAcCitiuon Hay.
