AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
A SIEETIXG of the committee" of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday, at the offices, Haymarket, Queen-street, Air. J. Lamb presiding. It was decided that the annual show should be held on Tuesday and "Wednesday,. tie Sth and 9th. of November, and in, addition to other prizes, it was agreed to offer prizes as follows:—-For the best 2 acres of peas, 5 acres of beans, 10 acres of wheat, 5 acres of barley, 10 acres of oats, 5 acres of. potatoes, 2 acres of mangolds, 2 acres of carrots, and 2 acres of turnips.' Also prizes for drilling of the best 10 acres Vof wheat,, oats and barley. ' • .". '. : " j• < It was intimated that any' member or non-. member could obtain samples of the imported, wheat, on. condition that a like amount or (juantiiy be.returned to the'society from the crops. Application for seed to be made to. the Secretary. " ' *'"- i • The Association agreed to offer a first- prize: of £20 and : a peeond prize of £10 for the best and second best cultivated/ :farm on the; rotation of crop and root pi'inciple, the competition to be.limited'tq< farms of from 50 to 200 acres; the entrance fee to be £2 2s. : It was agreed ttiat'the ploughing match be hold on the 22nd inst./the prizes to be the same as last year, and a sub-committee was appointed to select the ground on which the matches are to take place. Mr. Lamb offered a prize of 2 guineas for the best ploughing by farmers' sons under 18, and Messrs. T. and S. Motrin offered a similar prize. j
