POLICE COURT.—Monday.
[Before E. C. Barstoiv, Esq., E.M.] Vagrancy.— All Jee, a Chinaman, who had frequently been before the Court, and who is evidently not quite sane, was charged under the Vagrant Act -with having no lawful visible means of support. The defendant was examined by Dr. Haines and Dr. Honeyman, who certified that he was of unsound mind, and he was committed to the asylum.
Fruit-stealixg.— John Knox, aged 10 years, and Arnold Garry, 10 years, were charged with stealing fruit, value Is, the property of John Waymouth, on the 23rd iust. Both pleaded guilty. Knox was sentenced to 4S hours' imprisonment, and to be flogged, and Garry was ordered to be returned to the Industrial School.
Larcexy.—Maria Gray was charged with stealing 17 yards of calico, value £1 10s, the property of John Grace, on the 19th of April. The offence was proved, and accused was sentenced to six weeks' imprisonment, with hard labour.
