WORKING MEN'S CLUB.

HALF-YEARLY BALL. The half-yearly reunion of the member;: of the Working Men's Club, with their wives ami sweethearts, took place last night in the large meeting aiul ball-room of the establishment. There was a very goocl party, although scarcely so large as was expected, but thoae present appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves. It was a good sociable gathering. Reed and Davis's band performed on the occasion. Messrs. Fortzer and Howard officiated as masters of ceremonies, and Mr. Trewheela, the providore of the club, provided the necessary refreshments in a liberal manner. Dancing was kept up with spirit until midnight. In the supper interval, Mr. A. Aley, the president of the club, addressed the members. He said he had no desire, on an occasion of this sort, to refer to the internal troubles of the club, but he would like to have a greater amount of co-operation from the members to make the club a success. That could only be accomplished by the members themselves. They should, recognise the fact that they were proprietors, and instead of being ruled by the committee, they should aid the committee by giving expression to their opinions and making such suggestions as occurred to them. He, as president, and the committee were desirous of seeing the members generally take a more active part in the management of the Club, and its general well-being. Dancing was then resumed, and a very pleasant evening was passed.
