Kukaxui Hill United.—The mine manager reports on the Ist instant: —Teutonic Section : The drive east on No. 1 leader is in 15 feet. No gold has been seen. The leader varies from 3 to 15 incites wide. I have let a contract to continue this drive at Ss 9d per foot. The cross-cut is in 17 feet beyond No. 2 leader (mentioned in my letter of 29th October) in good country. We cannot be far oil* the main lode. I intend to drive on No. 2 leader in a few days. I have let a contract at 5s per foot to cross-cut westward at a point 175 feet from the mouth of the. main drive. In about 50 feet this will pick up the main lode. Junction Section : Eight men are engaged stoping on Pcarce's leader, which shows no change since last reported on. The mill will be started on the quartz on hand on Wednesday. Oddfellows : Four men are stoping in this section on the seaward end of our old line of workings. The lode is very much more regular than formerly, and it has increased to over a foot wide of good-looking quartz. A small branch in the hangingwail is being driven on seaward from Jenkins' old workings. We have seen a few colours here lately, and I am led to hope for some better things as we get in line of Jenkins'rich runs. 3GO-feet Level : Six men continue driving on No. 1 lode. The progress last week is 17 feet. The lode keeps its peculiar westerly course, and shows big and strong. Battery : There is no great quantity on hand for starting, but several tributers want to crush, so I will start on AVednesday next.-— J. W. Walker.
