THE PRINCE OF WALES' SOYS. [reuter's telegrams.] London, May 3. The corvette Bacchante, with the sons of the Prince of Wales' on board, has returned. THE GARONNE ARRIVED. London, May 3. The Orient Steamship Garonne has arrived at Plymouth with the cricketers on board, all of whom are quite well. IRISH APPOINTMENTS. London, May 1. Earl Cowper has been appointed LordLieutenant of Ireland, and Lord O'Hagan has been appointed Lord Chancellor of Ireland. THE WOOL SALES. London, May 1. At the wool sales to-day 10,000 bale 3 were offered, making a total of 111,200 catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale was quieter and weaker. For inferior and faulty wool the demand is purely speculative. SHIPPING. London, May 1. The Orient Company's steamer Lusitania sailed for Plymouth to-day. COLONIAL NEWS. Sydney, May 3. The crew of the Chandernagore having shown a mutinous spirit, police observation of the vessel both day and night was found to be necessary. After a consultation in the presence of the foreign Consuls, the Chandernagore affair has been settled, and the crew have obtained their discharge. COLONISATION OF NEW IRELAND. Sydney, May 3. News has been received that a steamer, with several hundred foreigners for the colonisation of New Ireland, has been sighted in the vicinity of that Island.
