Nsw Zealand Herald Office. Friday evening. The Customs receipts to-day were £571 7s 3d. Mr. George Sibbin held his weekly sale this morning, of produce, &c., and the following are the prices realised :—Potatoes, £3 2* 6d to £3 10s per ton ; cheese, 4&d to 6d ; salt butter, 9d ; bonedust, £8; tea, in boxes, £17 6d, and at per lb. from Is Sd to 2<s 2d ; kerosene (star), Is lid ; fancy biscuits, 5d ; maize, 4s per bushel. SYDNEY. The Sydney Morning Herald of the 23rd has the following:—The import markets, without exhibiting any speculative tendency, have a firmer tone, as the result of the advance in wool, which must tend to make money more plentiful, and increase the ability of country residents to buy. The tendency of the breadstuffs market is to lower prices, there being I sellers of best wheat at 4s Bd. Candles had I more inquiry : 1000 boxes of D.R.J. sold in ■ three lots at 7jd. A parcel of EL.B.S. cement I was placed at 18s 6d., Plantation coffee steady at 12$ d for trade lots ; a small line of inferior, from the South Seas, was done at 9£d. Hops have a quiet sale ; Is lOd was paid for a small parcel of very fine Tasmanian, and 2s 6d for a parcel of new English. In groceries, we note the sale of Eagle pickles at a uhade under 8s 3d* Anglo-Swiss milk is in demand, and 7s 9d was paid for a small parcel. Brandies are firm. English advices state that in the month's shipments of brandy to this port there were only 2,300 cases of Hennessy's. Three star of that brand sold to-day at 455. Sales of Danville's whisky were made at 5s 9d for bulk and 6s 9d for cases. Ross 7 bulk sold at 4a ljd. Melbourne -buyers are still operating here in teas, and we note the quittance of 1,000 halfchests of first crop. For a small line of coarse Liverpool salt, delivered, £5 10a was paid. Metals are firm. 600 packages nails changed hands at 21s. The shipment of copra just to hand was placed at close to £14, and pearlshell is selling at £135. Beer has a moderate sale at late rates, the Crown, a new brand of stout lately introduced here, is spoken of as of good quality and well got up. The new maize has begun to come forward in appreciable quantities, and is in high favour; tine, full, and thoroughly dry samples fetching up to 2s 7d. The old maize on hand is for the most part inferior, and does not realise more than 2s 3d for the best sorts forward. Barley and oats are unaltered. Potatoes at £2 10s to £2 15s for Hunter River, and £2 15s to £3 for Warrnambool lots, are without much animation. Onions, at £3 to £3 ss, are much in the same state. Butter is dull of sale at from 9d to Is for the better descriptions. Bacon is improved vastly, owing to the finer quality of that coming to market, and the best is worth from 9d to lOd. Pigs (alive) have shared the improvement in the price of salt pork, and are now worth 3Jrd to 5d per a marked rise on late quotations.

ME. E. ARTHUR'S WEEKLY REPORT. There has been a fair demand for general produce during the week. No improvement in price of potatoes. Cheese has gone off readily if of good quality. The demand for butter does not improve. Monday's sale of household furniture and effects, at Mr. J. Smith's, Queen-street, was well attended, and passed off very satisfactorily. Tuesday's sales of furnitures, &c., at the mart, was well attended, and a fair amount of business done.

Wednesday's sale of Hobart Town fruit, ex Te Anau, from Hobart Town, passed off well.
