AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.

MR. ALFRED BUCKLAND'S WEEKLY REPORT. On Saturday, at the Haymarket, fodder ranged from 2s to 4s 3d the cwt.; maize, 3s 7d to 4.s ; oats, Is lid to 2s 2d ; rye grass, 2s 3d to 4s 3d ; cocksfoot, 3s to 3s Gd the bushel. A second-hand express, £17. Horse stock were in unusually large numbers, and of good quality. Prices for draught stock were low. Good unbroken medium draught ranged from £17 10s-to £20 10s ; heavy draught, £20 to £27 each ; a pair of buggy ponies, £35; the racehorse " Saunterer," £61: useful riding horses, from £11 to £30. On Tuesday, hides ranged from 2fd to 3£d the lb.; tallow, 2ls to 21s Gd the cwt.; sheepskins, from Is 4d to 3s 4d each ; fleece wool, in grease, 6sd to BJd ; lambs' wool, 7Jd to 9Jd the lb. Tho sale of Maytown was fairly attended, and almost -all the available allotments sold at prices varying from £100 to £134 an acre. When the road through the property is fenced off, it will make the remaining portion fully as valuable aB those sold. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were more numerous than for several weeks. Best animals maintained their value, but those of a middling quality were lower in price. Store

cattle, of u good class, were in fall numbers. For calves good prices ruled ; they brought from 46s to, 52s each; but well-bred steers, from two to three years old, realised but £4 15s to £512s 6d, and coarse-bred tbree-year-old Bteers £3 15s. Fat, cattle in less numbers than for several months; under 100 head yarded, and prices rallied,—for best steers, about 20s each ; prices for best Auckland fatted, were from 24s to 265; and for ship borne, 22s the lOOlbs. Sheep were in fully average numbers, but in good demand, and better worth from 2s to 3s per head. They ranged from 2Jd for inferior, to 3d per lb. for best quality. Pigs were abundant, but maintained late vilues. MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S WEEKLY BHPOBT. Horses.—The races have caused considerable interruption to business, and scarcely an average number have changed hands. The alteration of sale day had, as usual, a damaging effect on the auction sales. An average number were submitted at the Durham Yards on Saturday, but the bidding was slow. However, nearly all in were disposed of, although in some instances values could not be reached. We quote: Hacks, from £5 to £11 15s; light harness horses, from £12 to £21; medium draught, £35. Cattle.—There has been au increased supply of dairy cows, but it has been Bhort of requirements, and but a limited number of stores offered. Fat beasts at Newmarket, on Tuesday, were yarded in adequate numbers, and Bold at about last week's quotations, although prices fluctuated considerably, 253 per lOOlbs. being given for top sorts, while ship-borne barely reached 225. Sheep. -The Newmarket Yards were well filled on Tuesday, and last week's prices were sustained, and for a few lots a shade in advance was given. Mutton, from Is 8d to Is lOd per 81bs. Lambs were in fair numbers, and sold at from 5a to 14s. Pigs were yarded in increased numbers, but were still much Bhort of requirements. Good porkers sold at 3d per lb. live weight, some obtaining even a shade higher value.
