MANGERE.

The adjourned Mangere library meeting took place on Monday evening in the schoolhouse. Mr. Middlewood Kirkbride occupied the chair. The Provisional Committee re. ported that the donations received and promised amounted to £59 2s 6d. Mr. H. S. Andrews informed the meeting that he had received a rich donation from Mr. J. P. King, of Queen-street, Auckland, in the shape of fifty volumes of standard work as a presentation to the library. A cordial vote of thanks was awarded to Mr. King for liis very valuable and timely present. The Provisional Committe presented a draft of constitution for library, code of bye-laws, regulations, rules, &c, which were duly considered, amended, and passed, vesting the property in trustees for and on behalf of the district. Life members are to be admitted for a payment of £10; honorary members £1 per annum; and ordinary members, 10s per annum, payable yearly, half-yearly, or quarterly; and children under 15 years of age 5s per annum. By resolution the Provisional Committee were thanked, and kindly undertook to continue their labours, by enrolling members, gaining permission for the school-house to be the library location, provide the necessary library fixings, and prepare everything for the first annual meeting, fixed to take place at S o'clock p.m. on the second Monday in January, when the officers and committee of management are to be elected.
