The order was made in consequence of the Appeal Court having decided that New Zcalaud creditors had preference over Adelaide creditors, hy Gleich having changed his domicile by visiting England. A certificated accountant in bankruptcy has addressed a letter to the Chamber of Commerce, in which that body is requested to use its influence in havins Mr. Berry, one of the accountants, struck off the roll. OAMAItU, Monday. A do:id has washed away about two chains of the railway formation at Otaio. News was received hero at 5 o'clock that a special train was de3pitched with men, who ■vorked all night, and the line was repaired this morning. PORT CHALMERS, Monday. The whole of the passengers ex Dunedin and Wanganui were landed to-day. Frank Wojlfe, an apprentice, and William Fulton, a seamau of th.e ship Hermione, charged with embezzling cargo and carrying a naked light in the hold during tho voyage from London, were tried before tho court to-day. Woolfe was sentenced to seven weeks' imprisonment, and Fulton to 1G we ks, with hard labour. DUNEDIN, Mouday. The Jockey Club to-day received a letter from Mr. H. P. Lanco, accepting the office of haudicapper to the club, in place of Mr. Moor. . Mr. Malcolm, rector of Tokomariro High School, has been appointed rectur of Christchurch Normal School. Shearing has commenced at the Lake district, the prices ruling being 15* per 100. At the inquest on the body of Henry Madden, foundon the Oceanßiachyesterday, a verdict of "Found drowned" was returned. The deceased had been an inmate of the> Benevolent Institution. W. A. Crombie, manager of the late Dunedin Tramways, has been appointed Goods Traffic M.inngir h?re, vice W. C. Norman, resigned. INVERCARGILL, Monday. The sittings of tho Supreme Court commenced to-day, before Mr. Justice Williams. Only one case was hoard—Patrick Newman, who was charged with maliciously killing a. horse. He was acquitted.
