NORTH SHORE JUVENILE ATHLETIC CLUB SPORTS.
The opeaing meeting of the above club took place on Saturday, the Cth inst. The entries were good, and the events well contested. Mr. T. Sibbin acted as starter and handicapper, and Mr. J. Bayley as Sub joined are the results:—l6o yards: Som>;rrield, 1 ; \V. Wynyard, 2. 100 yards (under 11) : A. Bailey, 1 ; D. McDougall, 2. 120 yards : J. Buchanan, 1 ; A. Bartley, 2. 100 yards, hurdles :A. GormaD, 1; J. Elastic, 2. One mile : K. Biiley, 1 ; W. Swinnertou, 2. Half-inile : W. Wynyard, 1; H. William?, 2. Quarter-mile : A. Gorman, 1 ; J. Buchanan, 2. High jump: W. Wynyard, 1. Long jump: A. Gorman, 1. 100 yards (under 11): 11. Grat'an, 1; G. Smith, 2. High jump (under 11) : A. Bailey, 1. Hop, step, and jump : W. Wynyard. Consolation, 100 yards : S. Somerfield, 1 ; A. Gorman, 2. Tug of war : R. Lusk, E. Bailey H. Wood, H. Williams, G. Smith. The priz s, consisting of cups, &c, were distributed at the Flagstaff Hotel, in the evening, by Mis 3 Lawrence ; aud as each successful competitor received his prize, a few kindly words from that amiable young lady, no doubt enhanced the value of the trophy. It is to be hoped that all future meetings of the club will be carried out as agreeably and successfully aa their first.
