TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —In your issue of the 22nd instant, 1 notice a small paragraph which refers to a remark made by one of the judges of sheep at the late Auckland Show, about the weight of Mr. May's Lincoln ewe hoggets tleecej. As I happen to be the individual referred to, I wish, with your pai mission, to explain thit I think it is very much out of place for Mr. May to publish tho remarks made by me. I am aware it was wrong of me to give my opinion about what I considered the weight of their fleeces when judging, bat it was more discreditable for Mr. May to be about the pens listeuing to any remarks the judges might make; lii-s presence there might have had some influence on the minds of some of those who acted with me, as one of them knew him and his sheep. Thia sort of liberty of allowing exhibitors of stock to be convenient to the pens when their stock is being judged is very objectionable, and will tend to create a bad feeling against the society if not remedied. The directori wuuld do well to see to this in future, if they want impartial judging and the business oi the show conducted satisfactorily. The published weights of the tluecea Mr. May his furnished are certainly very high averages. Will Mr. May be good enough to publish the broker's estimate of the loss of weight there will be in that wool when cleaned, an! the value per pound it realised at market': Being a celebrated breeder of Lincoln!, it would be great satisfaction to all breeders of such sheep if they received this information.
