PARLIAMENTRY GOSSIP.
[from our special correspondent.] Wellin-oton", Thursday. GOVERNMENT TAX TO BE WITHDRAWN. The belief that the Property Assessment Bill will be withdrawn, after being to some extent debated, gain 3 ground, and is generally believed. It is known positively that there is no intention to bring down the bill fixing the amount of the tax this session. ELECTION TELEGRAMS. The whole afternoon to-day was wasted in a very warm dircussdon over the report of the Election Telegrams Committee. Some very strong and personal language was used, but the debate resulted in nothing, being interrupted by tho dinner aeljourument. PROPERTY ASSESSMENT BILL. Major Atkinson is now moving the second ! reading of the Property Assessment Bill. This will occupy the whole night. THE COUNT OUT. The first count-out of the session took place soon after one o'clock this morning, when Sir George Grey's Constitution Act Amendment. Bill wa3 so disposed of. AftOTHER STRUGGLE. There are vague surmises afloat of some new combination, which may result in another Ministerial crisis, but nothing reliable can be ascertained.
