PROPOSED NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION.

Tub following letter, received from the Wellington Local Industries Association, relative to a proposed New Zealand Exhibition, will be taken into consideration by the "Working Men's Political Association, at its meeting tomorrow night:—" Wellington, New Zealand, 26th November, 1879.—Sir,— By direction of the Committee of the Wellington Local Industries Association, I have the honor to bring under your notice, a movement, juat commenced, for the pur. pose of holding an exhibition of the productions of all nations, in Wellington, to fo'.low the Exhibition which will be held in Melbourne, in 18S0. The Committee of this Association l.ivo already communicated with the Government upon the subject, and have reason to believe that the scheme, when matured, will receive favorable consideration. In the meantime, it is desired that the people of New Zealand, from whom really the proposal emanates, should publicly express their wish to see •uch an exhibition in New Zealand, and use their endeavours to make the undertaking a auccesß in every way. It is to be borne in mind that if the proposed exhibition is to be held immediately after that in Melbourne, we, in New Zealand, will, in all probability, receive some advantage from the exhibits there being sent to this colony (which most likely will be done), at the same time great inducement will be Held out for foreign •risitora to Australia to continue their journey to New Zealand, by which, it is believed, much benefit would accrue to this colony. As this will be essentially a exhibition, it is proposed that subscriptions Hhould be commenced of amounts from one shilling upwards. If the matter be taken up with any degree of enthusiasm a large sum of money may be raised at once by the shilling subscription alone. The Government have been requested to place on this session's appropriations the aam of (flay) £5000, to be used on condition that a similar gum be raised by the people; and upon the maturing of the plans and approval by the Government a further sum to be granted next session of Parliament. This is a brief outline of the proposal, hut the organisation has yet to be made ; and it is the wish of the committee of this association that the industries associations throughout the colonies should unite, as it appears to be a work particularly that of these associations. I shall be glad if you will placc this before your committee, and inform me if they will co-operate with us, and suggest plans for the organisation of this scheme. —I am, &c., W. H. Warkbn, Secretary Local Industries Association. —The Secretary the Working Men's Political Association, Auckland."
