The first award of prizes to the pupils of the Free School of Art, founded during the past year by the munificence of Ur. J. L. I'ampl>cl\ t.,ok plica yesterday in the schoo', in the' Auckland Institute Bidding. Mr. Alb. n Martin was judge, and handed iu the following awards : —
Study from Statu' : First prize to Miss R. B own, second to M:vs IL Stewart. Stuely from Bust : I-Vst pr!z3 to Miss C. W. Home, second to Miss J. I. Cheeseman. Copy from the Fiat : First prize to Miss F. K. White. The classes will break up ou the 15th, when, we understand, Dr. Campbell will the students and inaugurate the first annual distribution of meelals to the prizewinners.
