A little gold is also showing, but the gold is so bla-jk that it is diliicu'.t to see i'. 'I bis branch is making away eastward, and gold can be traced ail along au far as tho stopes have been carried towards the No. 4 winze. The footwa'l lode is not quite so largo as it was, bat the quartz whiqh 13 now showing is healthy-loukiug i-foae, and in several places gold is showing, This afternoon, in stripping this lod_o, some very nice-looking golden stG.ic was exposed. The most encouraging | change that has taken place durinp, the last ' d»y or two ia in the or mafn lode, as the stopes are carried outward. The lode in this direction is making in a fine, healthy-looking body of stone, over the unpayable gro.ind which was driven through on the drive below. The quartz contained the most favourable indications, and every time the lode is shot down gold i-j eeen in the stone. In connection with these works the manager has started to cut a chamber at the foot of the " jump up" for the purpose of sinking a winze. The main lode here is a fine - looking body of stone. On Dixon's lower level the manager has again started to drive westward, and in a few days some idea will be given of what may be expected in this direction. The other portions of the mine are without change. The general crushing has been showing up very well lately. Another retorting for tho company took place to-day, and produced 5320z5. o£ gold, bringing tho total up to 29650z3. The final retorting will be on Monday, and, judging from the amount of amalgam which is now on hand, the total return will be considerably over 3000uzs.
