The increase in the yield was mainly owing to there being a much larger quantity of pickel Etone obtained. This has principally b j en coming to hand from the stnpes west of No. 4 winze above the Whan level, but th? richest stone, although there was not nearly s<> much of it, was obtained from the junction of the snull leader cut in the east drive on the 70-feet level. The maueger si-cuke very highly of the improved prospects of tho mine, and certainly, if the present yield cm be taken as a criterion, they have improved, and he is very sanguine of being able to kc-p up the returns of gold. The Waiotahi Com•panv lip.ve also banked the very fair return ■of ITOozs. Sdwts. melted qoW, the produce of 146 tons of jiem-ral stuff. Considering the locality and position of the mine the return is a very good one, and if similar ones can be obtained in future the company will very soon bo in a flonri3bing condition. Albcknia. — Morton and party, tributers in this niiiie, have crushed 201bs. of specimens for the excellent return of C2ozs. 3d\vts. of melted gold. Mcllhaney and party, who are tributing 01 the Sous of Frtedom lode above the Whau level, have crushed a parcel of g-neral stuff, for the return of 19ozs. ladwts. of melttd gold.— Whitaker and pnrty, another party of tributers, have finished a crushing for the yield of 4ozs. lOdtvts. of melted gold. TOOKF.Y. —McCude and party, who have a portion of this mine on tribute, have crushed about 13 tons of general stuff, for tho return of 17ozs. Schvts. of melted gold. City of Manchester.—icott and party, the proprietors of 'his claim, have crushtd aboui 20 tons of general stuff for the return of 3l(jzs. Gdwts. of melted grid. The diving oje-atious at the big pump have been rather more successful today. The diver, after overcoming several difficulties, succeeded in reaching the plungerbox.
