An article appears in the Star of to-night on the administration of the Kaitangata Relief Fund. After quoting an extract from an article on this subject which appeared In its columns on June 2, and also one in the Southland News, it says that a Christ church correspondent fo the Saturday Advertiser pointed out very Btrongly the public hearings of the question in a late issue of that journal, and winds up as follows: '' It is a matter of pure impertinence on the part of a few persons in Dunedin to step between the people of New Zealand and the objects of their charity. The people of New Zealand knew when they had contributed enough, and it is audacious for the Dunedin committee, some few persons, to say that too much has been raised for the purpose in question. The plain fact is, that seeiDg so much money lying in their hands, so much more than they ever anticipated, the committee have not been able to resist the temptation of tampering with it. Having made up their minds to the misappropriation of the public funds, plenty of plausible reasons are put forward to justify their action. These reasons, however, are just of the same nature that every embezzler- and. thief brought before our Courts puts forward in excuse for his crime. They are hollow and false, every one of them,, and the proposed action is a robbery, and~hpthing less." GRErMOUTH, Saturday. Mr. W. H.
