RISKING HER LIFE TO GET MARRIED.
Officers of the Iron Bailroad in Missouri gire details of a romantic and rather exciting episode which occurred recently on that line. At Belmont a woman of fine personal appearance and handsomely dresaed purchased a ticket to go North. After travelling about a mile, and while the train was at full speed, she suddenly arose and walking quickly to the door, sprang out into the darkness. She was observed to go to the door, but at the time no one supposed that ahe had made so dangerons a leap. Jn duo time, however, ehe again appeared at Belmont, having walked back along the track, without having sustained any injuries. She then txplained that ehe wae from the Sonth and was under a marriage engagement, : but that her stern grandfather, interfered, and the only chance left wae to seek soine distant place for the performance of the marriage ceremony. A place on the line of the railroad had been selected, where her lover, who would be along by the next train, was to meet her. It appeared, howavar, that the grandfather, close in puriiuit, was .on the same train from Belmont with the fugitive, although he was not aware of her proximity. She oaught sight of him, and without hesitation left the car, as stated. After the train had ran a few miles it was found that the was miaeing, the conclusion being that she had fallen from the car. The grandfather having heard of the circumstances at once concluded that the reckless woman was she ci whom he had been in hot pursuit, and he took the first train back to Belmont. Before he got there the lady bad no trouble in finding her friends. The old gentleman made inquiries for her upon his return, but was started off in the wrong direction, and at the same time watch wae kept on the expected lover, who was easily recognized from the description ehe had given. Soon after hie arrival the two united legally and no longer feared pcrenit. ___________ J
