-♦— A meeting of the Board of Education wag held yesterday afternoon. Present; Mr. J". M. Olark (chairman), His Worship the Mayor (Mr. T. Peacock), Messrs. F. 1,. Prime, J. M. Dargaville, Colonel Haaltain, Messrs. W. P. Moat, and May. Executive Cojijiittee's .Report. — The following report of the Executive Committee wae read and adopted :—Whangarei Heady: The committee have authorised an expenditure of £10 for repairs to the teacher'a house.' The committee recommended the acceptance of the following tenders:—Rosa and McDonald, £497, for the erection of a teacher's house; D. Muir and Son,. £485, for the erection of a school-house, CoromandeL The committee recommended that tenders be immediately invited for the necessary re> paire and alterations to the echool-house (damages received by the late galea); siso; that the erection of a teacher's residence at Ohaupo be proceeded with upon payment o£ a_ subscription of £40 promised by the district. Training-classes: The committee recommended that the Board approve of the programme for teachere' trainUg-classes at Auckland; also, that the training-classes at " . the Thamee be temporarily discontinued! after the 30th instant. Holidays: Tho committee have authorised the following mid-winter holidays : —City, suburban, andt Thames schools, ono week, beginning •Oα Monday, tho 30th June; Girls' High School, » fortnight, beguming on Wednesday, the 9th July. AEAKiiitr South.—A memorial for a school at this place was referred to the executive committee. A\titu.—A letter from the committee of the Awitu school was read, asking for a grant of £20 for repairs to the teacher's residence.—Application granted. Manukai; Heads.—An application for a school-house was refused. Hamilton East.—An application for the enlargement o£ the school was deferred for the present. Hokianoa.—An application for a grant of. £50, for improving the school was granted. Hont£ey. —An application for a teacher's residence was deferred. Kawakawa. —An application for a teacher's residence was deferred until a future occasion. ' Mahurangi.—The sum of £30 was granted for fencing. Mount Albert.—The application for a school-building was referred to the executive committee.
