UNITED METHODIST FREE CHURCH BAZAAR.
The bazaar in aid of the funds of the United Methodist Free Churoh was continued yesterday, and the unfavourable state of the weather considered, the success was remarkable. There w»s a large attendance, particularly in the evening, and the takings amounted to £5S 14s. The goods on exhibition seemed to show little diminution. Irrespective of the ordinary claaa of articles, ornamental and useful, to be found at church bazaars, there were special features which attracted great attention. In the book-stall, there was a good collection of works, some well-worn, some new, but many of considerable ralue. The up-staira apartments were mysterious, and interesting, including an art gallery, of a most extraordinary character, and every person who visits it will, we are certain, be astonished and amused. Another interesting feature is the kaleidescope and the microscope. These hare hitherto attracted a great deal of attention. Under the latter are exhib-ted a number of extraordinary views. In the case of a number of glass plates, for instanoe, on whieh thore are, to ordinary appearance, a spot fcvrlsc tis size of the head of a middlingsized pin, tii? microscope discloses to the astonished vie"/, a number of columns of legibly-printed reading matter on each spot, which would ococpy nearly five minutes to read. The committee have certainly spared no pains in making their bazaar attractive and amusing, and we have no doubt there wiU be a larger number of purchasers and visitors to-day than there has been during the two preceding days. We may add that the fine brass band of the .Viotoria Bifle Company played during the exhibition last night.
