J.P.'s.l s pRUKKENNESs.—One person was fined for this offence. hoGtTE and Vagabond.—John Collins wae charged with a breach of the Vagrant Act, by being a rogue and a vagabond, &o. Prisoner, in a feeble voice, pleaded guilty, and w»a sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour. Stealing a Coat.—John Ludlow was oharged with stealing a coat worth 30s, the property of John Ryan. On the application of Mr. Pardy the ease was remanded till Mondey. , False Pretences. — John Brake was charged with obtaining money by false pre- j tences from VV. Denny Veaile, at Auckland on the 17th January, 1879. On the application of Mr. Pardy, the case was remanded till Monday. Prisoner was admitted to bail, himself in £10, and two sureties ia £5 •aoh. J Assault.—Charles Baker was charged with assaulting Alfred Walker by putting " his hand in his face, and using threatening f language. Mr. Laiehley appeared for the ' defendant, and stated that the assault was a 1 private one. It was the wish of the infor- t mant to withdraw the charge. He would * ask the Bench to dismiss the case.
