MILITARY ITEMS. Cape Town, May 10. The reinforcements have now all arrived at the several bases, from whence further operations will be conducted. The Cavalry Brigade is quartered in detachments, and several troops have been dispatched to the Transvaal, with the view of facilitating supply, outlay being cemparatively plentiful at that province. The English horses are said to be improving in condition, and only a few deaths hare been reported amongst them. For several nights past there have been indications of frost, so that all danger from horse-sickness may be considered as practically at an end. The only movement reported is one by General Wood, who has broken up his camp at the Kambula, and taken up a new position at Quita's Kraal, on the White Umvoloai, from whence he can more easily operate in concert with General Newdigate, whose division is concentrated at Doornberg, at the disputed territory. Much attention is being given in Natal to the progress of events in tho Transvaal, but the appeal of the Boer committee receives little support either in Maritzburg or Durban. During night, cries heard, Umatanzana and people been murdered. Umatanzana commanded Dabulamaazi at lsandhlwana. Colonel Wood making for Conference Hill, from whence he will march on Cetswayo's kraal." Aliwal North, May 16.—0n Friday last a Volunteer named Hans Von Bromemzen was killed by the enemy. He, with others, were out on patrol duty near a cave where the rebel Dodo is supposed to be. On hearing a noise, he went inside, urging his companions to come on, but the unfortunate man was shot before he had reached many yards. Befora the body was recovered, no less than three hundred rounds of ammunition were fired.
