DRAMA.
We have had three weeks of excellent entertainment givon by a body of amateurs, assisted by one or two professional actors, which has been a great success. Xhe works put on the stage may be strictly styled, "English comic opera," viz., "H.M.S. Pinafore," by Mr. Arthur Sullivan ; and the "Sorcerer," by the same composer, the libretta, in each case, being written by Mr. Gilbert, the well-known dramatic author. The names of the performers are: —Mr. Riccardi (a fine baritone), Mr. John Crain (tenor), Mr. Hodson (baritone), Miss LeafReed (soprano), Miss Teague (contralto), Miss Isabel Hunter (soprano), Miss Heath (contralto), Mr. Wilson (chorus-master), and Mr. Love as a low camedian of ability. The performance of both these lively operas drew large houses. His Excellency Sir Hercules Robinsou, family, and suite, honoured the performance of "H.M. s. Pinafore" with their presence, and will, we believe, attend a revised performance of the "Sorcerer." "Girofle Girofla" is underlined to be produced by this spirited little company next week, together with the first act of Faust (in Italian).
