The official meteorological report for May, 1879, shews that tho mean temperature of the air was about au average of the previous year's, at all stations the excess being 1 degree in Auckland, 2 2 degrees in Wellington, 2-8 degrees in Nelson, 3 2 degree 3 in Christchurch, 2.6 degrees in Hokitika, I'B degrees in Dnnedin. The reply of the Speaker was that having looked up the authorities on the subject, he was not justified in granting the permission asked. On the point whether the appendix of the journals of the Upper House formed part of the journals of the House or not, Mr. Rees said ho had looked up a number of authorities, and found many with him and others agninst him. He thought it best to withdraw the proceedings, and bring the matter before tho Hou33 of Parliament. The information was accordingly dismissed, and the Clerk of Court instructed to retain all documents and ex- - hibits, to be produced when required.
