New Zealand Herald Office, Friday evening. The Customs duties collected to-day amounted to £2SG 5s Sd. Mr. R. Arthur's sales of produce, groceries, fruit, furniture, &c, to-day were well attended, and passed off very satisfactorily. Poultry of all kinds sold high. But little demand at auction for potatoes ; & fair business has been done through the week. Bacon is in good demand, but most of that coming to hand is too green to keep ; a few small parcels of local-cured, of good quality, have been sold at B.M to 9|d per lb. Butter is in better demand ; but little of good quality on band. Fowls sold at Is 5d to 3s 9d; turkeys, 3a ; ducks, 2s 4d ; geese, 3s to 4s; game fuwls, 3s Gd; potatoes, 5s to 6s 6d; pumpkins, 2s 2d to 4s ; Swede turnips, Is 9d to 2s 6d; onions, 2d to 2|d; oats, 3s to 3s 6d; New Zealand maize, 4s; bran, 6s 6d; cheese, 2id to 9d ; bacon, 2d to ; lard, 8d; pigs' feet, shi perdoz.; ears. 12d per doz.; butter, 5d to 103 ; oatmeal, 2Jd to 2id; damaged, Id to ljd; sugar, 4Jd to 4Jd ;"salmon, 6s lOd to 7s lid ; rsj'sins, 5d ; almonds (shell), 8d to B.}d ; tea (box), 24s ; pork, 3d ; beef, 2Jd ; oranges, 9d to 10d ; wheatmeal, 8s ; confectionery, lid ; biscuits, Gd; apples, 3Jd. The furniture department sale was largely attended ; all second hand sold welL A good business has been done in new furniture during the week. The five cases of ituffed birds sold at £30.
