HORRIBLE MURDER, BY A RUSSIAN PRIEST.
A terrible murder with robbery has been lately reported from Ekaterinoslav. A soldier just returned from the theatre of war had gone to the village of Karnauchowka. While there he was asked to be godfather to a child about to be baptised. The pope who performed the right was a man of about GO years of age, and the soldier presented him with a gold piece. Ascertaining that the soldier had more gold pieces, which he carried with him, the priest and his deacon waylaid the soldier in a wood, felled him to the earth, and literally gnawed his throat in the absence of weapons sufficiently homicidal. Havine; robbed him, they left him by the wayside, convinced that he was dead or dying and could tell no tales, but some peasants coming up shortly afterwards, found the unfortunate man still living, and he was able before his death to indicate clearly who were his assassins. They are now in the hands of the police. M . „
