The topsail schooner Gael, now loading at the Railway Wharf, is expected to sail for Lyttelton to-morrow. Th? following are the names of the immigrants ■which came up on Tuesday in the s.s. Wellington. They arrived in the New Zealand Company's barque Warwick, at Nelson, a few days ago, and were forwarded by the authorities to Auckland : — Thomas Cann and ■wife, Martin Casey, wife and 5 children, James Smyth and wife, John, Fredk., Agnes, Charles and Edward Morgan, John R. Donnelly, Peter Hogar. W. E. Winship, Martlia Harris and child. Edward and Bridget Lynch. The regular Fijian trader, the schooner Agnes Donald, Captain Murray, arrived in harbour a little before 4 p.m. yesterday, with several passenger and a full cargo of sugar and Island produce. We are indebted to the master for prompt delivery of our files and other information. The schooner left Auckland on the 27th January, with moderate breeze from the south, which freshened next day, and, backing to the south-west, carried the vessel to the edge of the tropics. Thence to Levuka, which was reached on the 9lli February, N. and N.E. winds and heavy rain, the schooner being off Levuka 24 hours before getting in. On dropping the anchor, the sheep were immediately landed, in good order &na without loss. On the 11th and 12th had a smart blow from N. to N.W., with rain, which necessitated letting go the second anchor, while the people on shore weie lashing down their houses, expecting a hurricane. On the 14th the weather cleared, the wind getting round to the soutlj, when the cargo was discharged and loading up commenced. Was two days waiting for wind to get out, and eventually sailed on the 21at, with light airs from the S.E. and S., and •was five days getting clear of the Group, leaving Kandaru on the evening of the 2Gth, with a fresh breeze from the east, which carried the schooner to the Poor Knights on Monday evening at 5 o'clock. Thence light northerly acd N.W. wind till noon yesterday, when it shifted to the east, and brought the vessel up.^ Lp to the departure of the schooner Agnes Donald, there was no information regarding the •wrecked Auckland schooner Tubal Cain, at Ono Island. The cutter which had gone down to the Island from Levuka had not returned, and the general opinion waa that if she had not been got off the rocks before the middle of last month here would be little probability of so doing. New Haqbodr in Fiji : Notice to Mariners.—The following information is furnished by Captain W. H. Champion, of the s.s. Black Swan : —Vatu Kali, or "Swan Harbour," a good and safe harbour, situated on the S.E. side of Vanua Levu, and distance from Fawn harbour W. by S. five miles. This harbour affords good shelter from all winds, being wellprotected to seaward by the reefs. The entrance lies between the small Islands of Nanuthi to the westward and Navuni to the eastward ; the channel is about one cable in width, with deep water close to the reefs; when inside the reefs, anchorage can be had in any depth on a muddy bottom. When making for this harbour, it is necessary to have a look-out man aloft, as the reefs over-lap, consequently a ship might pass the entrance without noticing it. With the prevailing S.E. winds a ship could lay in through the channel : First course about north, for the main land. This harbour is certainly one of the best harbours in the group for riding out a hurricane. Captain Henry informed Captain Champion that during the prevalence of the S.E. trades the wind generally djes away towards sunset. At 8 p.m. a light breeze springs off the land, and lasts till 9 a.m., giving a ship ample time to get to sea. Small vessels could work in or out with any winds. But should there be a heavy swell outside, it would not be prudent to attempt to beat out. In the event of a ship missing stays, the swell would set her on to the reefs before she could be got round. Wood and water can be had in any of the bays, and Captain Henry (the only European resident in that harbour) will, I am sure, feel a pleasure in giving any information required.—Fiji Argus, February 21.
