NORTH ISLAND OF NEW ZEALAND. I WAITANGI ESTATE, I _ sj | • 9385 ACRES. 1 I The undersigned Ij instructed by Messrs. J. and W t Busby, who are oissolvisg partnership, to offer for 6 salo by public anction, at the Haymarket, Queen- | street, Auckland, on Tuesday, March IS, at noon, if g not previously sold, ij mHEIK PROPERTY at the Bay of | Islands, known as Waitangi, containing 9385 5 acres of land (more or less), held under grant from I' the Crown. I This Estate is situated on the west end shore of the | Say of Islands, and is bounded and fenced by the ij sea, and the River Waitangi, for a distance of 15 | miles ;it contains a considerable extent of volcanic 1/ and scoria land of good quality, with about 200 acres !cf rich alluvial fiats on the Waitangi, well adapted for growing lueerne ; the remainder consists of clay rldge3, with warm, well-sheltered valleys. The Homestead, consisting of a comfortable Cottage of 22 rooms, with Oat-offices, is situated on the shore ol the Bay, in a position of unequalled beanty and salubrity; adjoining it there is ?bout 6 acres of Shrubbery and Orchard, the latter full of choice g Fruit-trees, coming into fall bearing, together with I Kitchen Garden; there is also Men's Cottage, and a 1 large building used as a Hay-barn and Woolshed. 1 About 300 acres adjoining have been laid down in grass | land divided into paddocks, which have been used by !the present owners as a depot for fat stock for the local ; market; the rest is worked as a open run, upon which rough grasses—notably the Australian Poa \ ; Erownii—spreading rapidly. The property is at pre- ] ; lent less than half stocked. The purchaser will be \ . required to take at a valuation about a thousand 1 ; Sheep, Merinos, of food quality, bred from the stock j ; of the late Six I»onald McLean, a few Milking I | Cows, and about 80 Angora Goats; these last are I ; foand to thrive admirably, and promise, in conjnc* [ Hon with cattle, to entirely displace theep on the \ run, where the grown wether* fatten to 70 lbs. and upwards. j With Waitangi will be transferred the lease, having | 20 years to run, of an adjoining block of Government land. With the above the purchaser will have tte option of taking, at a price to be stated by'the auctioneer on the day of sale, Mrs. W. Busby's farm, at Ohaewai, consisting of first-class volcanio land, which has always been worked with Waitangi, with about a thousand longwool and half-bred sheep. The Bay of Islands is gradually forcing itself into notice as a desirable place to settle in. Its unrivalled climate is a great attraction to invalids. There are now, on an average, ten steamers monthly between the Bay and Auckland, and two between it and Sydney, and the completion to deep water of the railway from the Kawakawa Coal Mines, about to be undertaken, will bring a large addition to the number of shipping visiting the port, while the extension of the same line to Hokianga, which cannot be long postponed, will make it the depot for the trade of the finest districts North of Auckland.
