POLICE COURT.— Tuesday.
fßefore v. L. I'rimo and A. Clerue:.ts, K 5., J. P.'s.] Drunkenness.—Two persons were punished for being drunk, and two others who were too drunk to plead wore remanded for eight days. Indecent Language.—Kichard Uahill was accused of having used obscene language in Queen-street. He pleaded not guilty, but Constable Dodd proved the offence, and a penalty of 20s anil costs was imposed, witli the alternative of seven days' imprisonment with hard labour.
Indecent Exposure.—John Meikle, aliaa " Happy," was charged under tho Vagrant Act with wilfully and obscenely exposing, his person and being an incorrigible rogue and vagabond. He pleaded not guilty first, but after the evidence of Mr. You der Heyde had been taken, he pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour.
Negligent Parent. John Loreutzeu was charged with being £13 lis in arrears of contributions to the support of his children in the Industrial School. Ou the application of Sergt.Major Mason, the case was remanded for a month. Unattended Cart.—William Scarlett, for leaving his cart unattended in Union-street, without chaining the wheel, was fined 5s and costs. Cow at Large.—Richard Cameron pleaded guilty to allowing liis cow to wander on the Beach Road, Devonport, and was lined Os and costs. Chimney on Fire.—Susan Callagliun, for allowing the chimney of her house in Cookstreet to be on fire, was fined Is and costs. Unregistered Cart. —Ed. McKeown pleaded guilty to not having a registered number for the current year on his cart, and was fined 2s fid and costs.
