ONEHUNGA BOROUGH.

Thb ordinary meeting of the Council was held on Monday night. Present: Tho Mayor, Messrs. Clarke, Codlin, Earle, Hartnett, Jackson, Mclntyre, Neilson, anil Waller. A letter was read from the Relieving Officer, stating that for the future recommendations for rations, mu3t come through the Council. Greex Hill Reserve.— Mr. Jackson moved, :t That the report of the committee recommend* ing that John Hamilton be appointed caretaker, with use of the house, on the terms suggested, be adopted."—lt was agreed to. Priyate Slaughter-houses.— l The committee recommended that the fee for private slaughter-houses be reduced from £10 to £2, and that the by-law be amended accordingly. —On the report of Mr. Jackson, the report was adopted. Abattoir. —The committee reported that notice had been served on Mr. Buckland to extend the lc\se of these premises for a further term of two years. —The action was approved, Mr. Jackson only dissenting. Tenders were ordered for 950 yards of scoria ash. Several accounts were passed, amongst them a disputed one, from which the engineer had deducted an amount in consequence of a reduction in the work. The Council, however, voted the lull amount, Mr. Jackson only dissenting.
