MANAGEMENT OF ASYLUMS, &c.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Referring to a correspondent's remarks in your issue of the 27th inst., re hospitals, gaols, and asylums, as regards hospitals and gaols I don't know anything concerning them, but with the asylum I am fully conversant, being at present the clerk and storekeeper of the institution ; and I beg to inform you that, as regards the asylum, your correspondent's remarks are not ; t all applicable. The contractors are kept strictly to the stipulations of their contract, and tho system of expenditure is efficiently attended to, and a perfect check kept, and all matters, however trivial or else, aresubmitfctd to the General Government through the Inspector of Asylums.
