HON. MINISTERS SHEEHAN AND GREY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —lunderatand there is nowrunningan under-current movement to oust the present Ministry next session; that certain large landowners, resident not very far from Napier, and supported or aided here by Mr. M&cfarlan-s are now compassing sea aud land to obtain and nail the political overthrow of Sir George Grey. Furthermore, it is popularly rumoured that there i 3 a movement, totally different, by a wholly diverse people, to prevent another election of Mi. J. Sheehan (I say not to the Ministry, but) to the House. Such, sir, is a little more than mere rumour. Sir, I venture to predict that the adversary will fail. Only an appeal to the country by a general election is necessary to establish the Grey Ministry. And it was cunning of the Atkinson party and the Governor, months back, to interdict that appeal. But it must come. Sir George Grey has often protested against a bastard aristocracy and land-robbers ; and the people full well know it. Present Ministry requires a solid and safe-working majority of, say, about 15, in order to effectiveness ; but being now weak in the House (though by an unconstitutional anomaly they are strong in the colony), they cannot do much, and hare often to yield when a stiff stand is right and proper. But how extremely inconsistent for men who have desperately struggled to hinder and hamper them, to turn round and accusingly assert there is nothing done. For adjustment and re adjustment, a general election must be.— : lam, tc , W. E. Sadler.
