BOROUGH OF PARNELL.-ELECTION OF COUNCILLORS.

Yesterday being the day fixed for polling the voters, the Returning Officer (Dr. Home) r-u i the Town Clerk (\lr. Reynolds) attended at th« Borough oirices, for the purpose of taking the ballot. The poll closed at G p.m., and xhe Returning Officer announced the result to the ratepayers. There were five candidates for ite two seats vacated, by Mr. Coleman (upon his election as Mayor) and Captain Brackenbury (resigned). The following are the nau.es of tLe candidates, and the number of votes for each, is declared by the Returning O.'lioer John "William Robinson, 79 ; Richard Forgie, 41 ; John William Melton, 45 ; Willi-tm Samuel Collins t 42; Ernest John ICiqg, o.—Messrs. Robiuson and Forgie were declared duly elected as Councillors of the Borough <?t ParneU.—Mr. Robiuson thanked tha electors for having placed him at the head of the poll — Mr. Forgie, in thanking the electors, said the Borough had been treated with great injustice in regard to the McMurdo business. He would do everything in his power to hi** this matter rectified.—An Elector : The money is paid.—Mr. Forgie : I shall endeavour to h«>'£ this matter further investigated.
