NEWS FROM THE WEST COAST.
[PER " HERALD n SPECIAL WIRE.] Alexandra, Wednesday. Major Brown reports that Major Tuke has just returned from Normaoby, Waihi, and Opunake. He found the alarm of the 3ettlers* subsiding, and the natives on the plains grass-seed cutting and fishing, goodhumoured, and looking forward to the March meeting. The surveyors re-commence next week. The Native Minister is busily engaged here with important chiefs who have come in to the settlement to see him, amongst whom are Tapihana and Pikia.
