SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST LADY GOOCH.
On Nov. G, at Marlborough-str. et policecourt, a summons was set down for hearing against Lady Annie Louisa Gooch and a woman named Anne Walker, charging them with having, at the Grosvenor hotel, unlawfully combined, conspired, confederated, and agreed together to palm off on Sir Francis KobertSlieriock Lambert Gooch, Eenacrchall, Wangford, Suffolk, and 42, Charles street, Berkeley-square, as his own child, born of the body of tho said Lady Annie Louisa Gooch, a strange child, with intent to defraud and deceive. The defendant, Lady A. L. Gooch, did not appear ; but the other defendant, Walker, came to the bar. On the case being called, Mr. Edwaia Clarke said : I appear on behalf of Lady Gooch, and I produce a medical certificate which shows that it is impossible for her ladyship to be here. This statement was objected to, and Mr. Teevan, a surgeon, said he had been called in to the lady, and she was suffering from a slight cold. —Mr. Lewis (who appeared for Sir P. Gooch) said: I do not mean to pres3 the case to tho extent of asking at present for a warrant against Lidy Gooch ; but, of course, if her ladyship is not here, after any adjournment which may take place, the charge cannot be heard.—Mr. Newton : I shall adjourn the case until this day wcok; and if Lady Gooch does not then appear, I shall issue a warrant, without warning, for her apprehension. Meanwhile the other defendant, now at tho bar, must enter into her recognisances to appear again next Wednesday.—This was done, and the case was accordingly adjourned.
