TO TUB EDITOR. Sin, —The legal of the Devonport Iljard to appropriate money levied or given for purposes of a totally <iill*ci <_mjfc kind, for baths is ccrtainly questionable. B.uhiug facilities at Devonport ami North Shore are, no doubt, very desirable, and in«y inerease the pleasure of visitors as well as benetit the iateresfc of some who reside there. But surely there are enterprise and means euough on both sides of the water to do this without taking fuads urgenlly nucded for the more ncecssary objeet of giving the district passable roads and bridges where the Government has laid thcui out. The ro.uls and sideways of the .Xoith shore, whiuh should be as c.Uraetive in this as it is in other respect?, are in many parts graag-grovru, and otherwise in a primitive eoinlition. The Lake itoa.l is hardly crcditable to the district. A considerable portion of it has never sitiii • •ravel. Wnile, at least, 0:1 c bridge, at the boundary where two local Hoards uuite thoir power.®, is bath insulli-ient and dangerous.
