VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

VICTORIA COMPANY'S PRIZE-FIRING. On Saturday, twelve members of the Victoria Company met at the Rifle-range to compete for the "Ladies' Prize. A number of members of other companies also, by the permission of Captaiu Durrom, who was in charge of the lirimr-party, fired for practice. The range's were 200, 300, -100, 500, and GOO yard.-;, 3 shots at each. Some very good shotting v,-;ls made, especially at the 400 yards range, at which two of the competitors made the maximum score of 12 points. Volunteer LI. Bowden bore off the trophy on this occasion, with a good score of -10 points ; Volunteer Stewart being next with 42 points. The day was on the whole favourable, although there was a somewhat lusi,y wind blowing from the south-west up the range. The following are the scores made by 10 of the competitors. The other two are omitted, as they were very low, the men firing under peculiar disadvantages : —

PUBLIC PARADE AND MARCH OUT. The oilieer in command of the district, Major Lnsk, has issued orders for a monthly inspection jjaniflo of the > ixort Li»hfc Morse mount.-!, the Artillery with guns, the Engineers, Victoria No. 3. llobson, Scottish, liirie \"olunteers in full uniform and accoutrements, ami the Naval Brigade, to take Tilr.ee on Wednesday, at the Orill-shed, at 7.H0 p.m. A punctual attendance is desira ble, as it is intended to have a route march. The troops will be taken up to Barrack Hill where they v. ill probably be exercised in battalion movements After this a march will be inaugurated to take in the Borough of Parneli. A movement is, however, on foot to get this monthly inspection parage converted into a reception parade, to take part in the reception of Sir George Grey, and we understand Major Lusk will be communicated with on the subject.
