PRIMITIVE METHODIST BAZAAR.

The attendance at the bazaar daring Saturday afternoon and evening, though considerably larger than on either of the preceding days, was still hardly as numerous as might reasonably have been expected. One other feature of disappointment was the small proportion which the sales bore t~> the numbers of visitors—a fact, however, the explanation of which is manifest, viz., the absence of sufficient young ladies to canvass for purchasers. The ladies who presided over the various stalls were, without a single exception, married, and seemed somewhat diffident in the effort to dispose of their wares. Young ladies are, p r tr ew-VKivt, the

successful vendors at bazaars of articles of female workmanship, as many a man has experienced ouly too well, and the failure of the Frauklyn Road Primitive Methodists to realise the fact, or it realising it, to act accordingly, has resulted just as might have been anticipated. The absence also of 'Mucky bags" and "sweeps" may have had a prejudicial effect, for it is a strange anomaly that young men love to be importuned by young and pretty members of the ether sex; though once oat of the bazaar they steadfastly deny the soft impeachment. Taking into consideration the fact that the ladies of the Fuanklyn Road Church had none of these aids, it must be conceded that they have done remarkably well, and that they deserve the commendation of the congregation on whose behalf they have laboured so assiduously. The receipts at the time of the closing on Saturday night, had amounted tt? £35, making the aggregate receipts for the three days £73. A great amouut o? goods remain on haud, and it is purposed, in order to allow the public a further opportunity to inspect and purchase, to hold at au early date what is popularly known as a "Christmas Tree," when the sale will be resumed.
