New Zealand Herald Oflice. Friday evening. The total amount of duties collected at the Customs to-day was £507 2s 3d. Messrs. Cochrane and Son's sale of household furniture, kc., to-day, was moderately attended, and fair prices were obtained for tlio various lots offered. The open sailing-boat Amy was sold for £IG, but the cutter yacht Juno, and others, were passed. Mr. GeorgeSibbin held alargc sale of groceries, p-oduce, &c., this morning, at which there was a good attendance, and the fallowing prices were realised i— 5s od i oats, 4s cheese, oil to 7d ; bacon, 7id to Sd ; hams, 5d to 9d ; potatoes. 4s ; tobacco, 4s 3d ; tea, 22s per box ; tea (J-chests), ls9d per lb.; sugar (white), 5(1 to sid per lb. ; wine, 13s per case, d.p. ; vinegar, 2s r>d per gal. ; currants, 4gd ; candles, ; raisins, 4?jd ; onions, 1W , flour, 14s per cwt. ; wheat, 4s~Gd; sharps, lis 3d per bag ; castor oil, (is o'd ; lemon peel, Is 2d. Mr. R. Arthur's sale of poultry and produce was well attended, and a fair amount of business done. Poultry did not sell quite so well as last week. No doubt, next week being the Christmas market, there will be a good demand for all kinds. Potatoes are still in supply in excess of demand, therefore the price does not improve. Fowls sold at Is Sd to 2s ; Bramalis, 2s Gd ; Spanish, 2s ; ducks, lsGd to 2s ; pigeons, Sd ; geese. 3s Gd to 5s (id; pigs (small), Gs ; peas Is per peck; onions, to 2d per lb. : potatoes (white), 2s Id to 2s lOd ; pink eyes, 2s :jj to 3s Id ; kidneys, 3s 6d to Gs ; b.icon and hams (sundry), 2id to 7id ; butter (inferior), 2d to 2 J ,d ; cheese, 3.M to 7d ; beef. Id to ; pork, 4d ; lollies, CkVI ; maize, 5s ; flour, £13 10s to £15 10s ; bran" Gs per sack ; rice, 3d ; tea (box), 2Gs ; chests, 2s per lb. ; half-chests, Is 10.'.d ; salad oil (pints), 10s ; castor oil (halfpints), 5s 3d; capers, Gs; salad oil (half-pints), Gs 3d ; jams, Gs Od to 7s ; sultanas, Gd per lb. The furniture department sale was well attended, and fair prices were obtained.
