BANKRUPTCY. EE V. 11. SYIvKS, BOAT BrtI.DER. A meeting of creditors in this estate was held yesterday. 'J'lie debtor came up for the creditors' certificate of discharge. The liabilities were set down at i.T"2S 1 ->s -Id, and the assets at £'45 Is Oil, which, however, realised £2f). The trustee brought up his report, and offered no objection to the application. There was no opposition by any of the creditors. The baukrupt accordingly received his release from his liabilities.

POLICE COURT.—Wednesday. [Before P. Comiskev, Esq., and J. Willcocks, Esq., .Justices.] Drltxk ani> Disorderly.—Henry Rentier pleaded guilty to having been drunk and disorderly, and was ordered to pay a line of 10 s and ousts, or in default 4S hours' imprisonment; and John Tiiaekabury, against whom a similar charge was preferred, also admitted his guilt. was a formidable array ot previous convictions against this prisoner, and he was sentenced to pay a line of 20s and cost?, or to undergo 4S hours' impnsoumeut, and this being his third otiouce within the preceding three months, he was sentenced to an additional penalty ot live days' imprisonment. Lakceny.—Mary Ana Steele was charged with the larcepy of a purse containing L'l 12s. the property o!" Michael Burke. She pleaded guilty. Mr. Pardy said that on Motuhy last tiie accused was before the Ccurt for drunkenness. Mrs. Burke paid her due and had .the prisoner liberated, and it was on the same day she committed this thefc. On being searched by the female searcher 13s was found in the lining of her dress. .She was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, with hard labour. Assault. —.lames Gunson. was charged with having assaulted Henry Slator by striking him on the stou.-ach with his clenched fist. At the request of the prosecutor the charge was withdrawn. Esq., K.M.] Vagkast Act.—Mrs. Muir was charged with using bad language in Newsome-street, and pleaded guilty, under great aggravation, from a neighbour. Fined or 14 days' hard labour, which sh»* elected to take. Cruelty to a House.—J. J. Boyd was charged with ill treating a horse, by driving it with a sore shoulder. Sergeant Greene deposed : I saw the horse just taken out of the coach. On the left shouider was a large sore, apparently ulcerated. On the right shoulder was a smaller sore, and on the wither another sore. They seemed to have been rubbed over with some dark stuif. Constable Adamson gave corroborative evidence. Eor the defence, defendant admitted the horse had a sore shoulder some time previously, but it was healed, and he had just commenced to work it again, having previously had the collar altered. Andrew Uunwoodie said the wouud had been a bad one, but was partially healcil over, and the collar did not appear to have touched the wound. It had been a very sore shoulder. There must have been still inf) immution ami pain on working. His Worship said he thought the horse ought not to have been used; but as precautions lih<l been taken, : and there did not appear to be wanton ' cruelty, the ca6e would be dismissed.

Breach or Railway Regulations.— Thomas Walker was charged with using foul language at Penrose. Defendant did not appear. R. Scholefield, station master at Penrose, deposed to the use of very foul language repeatedly by defendant within heaiing of passengers. J. 1?. Stuart, guard of tlie Meruer train, deposed to hearing the words used to the station-master, Fined !){» and lGs Gd costs, or one month's imprisonment with hard labour.
