Tiik Houso of Rciprcßcntnlivus has not yet commenced to sit o:i Mondays, so that the only Parliamentary news which wo have to-day consists of the latest incidents ami gossip from Wollington, K seems that partio;s nto not yet formed, and that all tho futuro hangs on the Financial Statement, which is to bo made to-night, Mild a full summary of which we will publish to-morrow morning. The most curious of the rumours which we have is that stating that Mr. Stafford is going home, and that he will succeed Sir Julius Vogel as Agent-General. It has been believed for some considerable time that Mr. Stafford was desirous of obtaining tho Agont-Geaeralahip, and the course ho has taken of late has confirmed, if it did not create, the public impression. It seems to be a foregone conclusion that we are- not to have tho advantage of tho services of Sir Julius Yogel for longer than tho year for which ho was appointed, and which expires in December noxt. It will be remembered that he stipulated that he was not to bo required to hold the office for longer than a year ; but, indeed, to all appearance he need not have troubled himself to mako sueh a condition, tie will not be pressed to remain. Judging from the papers laid before Parliament, Sir Julius Vogol has been occupying his time since his arrival in London, not in borrowing millions—the time for that is past —but in making arrangements with clerks, messengers, and office-boys. He has also succeeded in getting into rather an unseemly squabble with Mr. Forster, the Agent-General for jS'ow South Wales, who has applied somewhat strong language to his conduct. We noticed a few days ago a report that Sir Julius was to return to New Zealand, and again to take the editorial chair of tho Olmju Jjaihj Tiu\ct. As wonders will never cease, we suppose this even may happen.
