MR. SAUNDER'S MONTHLY REPORT OF THE STOCK AND SKAREMARKET.

There has been somewhat a dull month's business, transactions in mining stocks being of ;\ rather limited character and prices generally ruling slightly lower ; the market, however, appears to be quite sound, as there are few sellers at quoted prices, and shares aro in most cases held for a bettor market. There h;is been a slight fail in prico of South British and National Insurance shares; but there arc now buyers at 80s and 'iin respectively. A new Insurance Company has been launched with great success—the Union Fire and Marino : cf.pit.il £2,000.000, the head office being at G'hristchurch. Already applications for over 40,000 shares have been made in Auckland. The following quotations wili show the present market value of stocks, and sabs effected during the month :—■
