New Zealand Herald Office, ■ . Friday evening. The sale at Arthur's Mart, this day, wiis well. attended in both departments, and a fairamount of bueiness was done. A large quantity of fruit was entered, and realised a rather better price than it did at the commencement of the'week. But few, buyers of cheese, therefore the larger lots were passed. There were two parcels of first-class Wairoa entered, which were held for 7d per lb. ; they aro well-mado lots. Potatoes and onions were brought forward in excess of demand. Many lines were passed; those sold realised 2s (5d to 3s Gd ; onions, gd to gd per lb. ; bacon, 3d to OAd; cheese, 2jd to (id ; butter, fresh Taranaki, 8d to Sid ; butter, kegs. 3.} dto B?,d per lb.; pears, jd to 2id ; apples/ l.}d to 2Ad ; nectarines, 3Jd ; plums,"2Jd to 3hd, and Cd; lollies, 8d to BAd; orange peel, 15d per lb. ; lobsters, 6s 9d per doz. ; fowl wheat, 4s per bushel; oats, 3s 3d. The sale in the furniture department continued up to a late hour. Not much second-hand furniture entered; what was offered sold well. A lot of millinery and costumes sold at fair prices; also a quantity of unredeemed pledges, tinware, &C."
Mr. G-. Sibbin's general weekly sale was well attended today. Maize, 4s Gd to 5s 3d ; oats, 2s 9d to os 3d; bacon (cloth), 10d ; roll ditto, 7d ; cheese, Oil to 7il; bran, Us; potatoes, 4s; white ditto. 2s; tea, 2s Id to 2s 8d per lb.; sugar, ud to s|d ; pears, 2A'l.
Messrs. Cochrane and Son's furniture and general goods sale proceeded favourably. A quantity of jewellery was offered, and realised satisfactory prices.
Messrs. M. Jones and Co.'a sale of produce, fowls, and groceries, was liberally attended today, and fair prices obtained. There was a good supply of fowls. The furniture sale was of the usual character.
Messrs. B. Touks and Co. held a sale of J<elson plums at the Brunswick Mart to-day. There was a moderate attendance, and 20 cases wero quitted at a good price.
Mr. R. C. Greenwood reports his usual Friday's sale of poultry, held in the Market-house, this day noon, as follows :—Fowls and poultry of every description scarce; fowls (good), Is 9d to 2s 5d each, ditto poor, Is 3d to Is 9d ; chicks, 9d to Is 3d ; geese, 2s 9d to 3s ; turkeys, none entered; ducks, Is 3d to 2s Id ; pigeons, 9d to 10d; sucking pigs, 9s Cd ; potatoes, i>s per cwt.; cheese, 5d to 7d per lb.; other goods at fair prices.
