Sugars : Very few transactions have been recorded in this article. Prices continue low compared with cost and the rates ruling in other colonial markets. Teas have not seen much business, the trade being .fairly well stocked. Late arrivals from Foochow report considerable transactions on colonial account. Prices were firm and steady. The inquiry for bottled ales and -stout has subsided since the demand for the holidays has been satisfied. Bass's 1 bulk ale is selling at £10 10s per hhd. A fine trade has been done in spirits; brandy has gone up with a bound. Hennessy, in bulk, cannot now be purchased under 9s 3d to 9s 6d; case is held for 34s i-b.; second-class brands have shared in this improvement, and are held for 7s to 7s ' <6d. A small line of Denis Morris's case brandy has been placed at 265. Tobacco is hardening in value ; first brands, in twist, . are selling at Is 9d. A small parcel of kerosene has arrived from a neighbouring market and has been quitted at 2s lOd d.p. The Josephine, form New York, is now due at Dnnedin, and her supply for this market is much needed. Candles continue steady at 10Jd to 10|d, with but few offering. Currants have receded somewhat, and are now selling at s£d to 5Jd; shipments of 'the new crop are due next month, and as 1 they cost less'than parcels lately arriving -here, we do not expect to see any improvement in this . article. Woolpacks are bare in stock, and command 8s Gd. Cornsacks have not seen -much business, holders are asking 93 for large lines and 9s 6d for smaller parcels. Dunbdin. —The Times of the 20th instant says:—Wheat: None offering; quotations unaltered, jfrime milling would command 6s at least. Oats are in good command at 2s Id to -2a -2d for feed, and 2s'3d for prime milling. Barley: Malting may be quoted at 4s to 4s 6d per bushel; feed, at 2s to 2s 6d.
