WANGAREL—THE ANNUAL CATTLE SHOW. [fbom our own cohresjojtdent.] We held our Agricultural Show to-day. There was an immense amount of fun, any quantity of cattle, and "no pitch hot." The prizes were really too small. It's all very well to talk about Agricultural Shows, blood stock, and so forth, but unless lejeu vaut Iα chandelk, the less we say about it, perhaps, the better. At all events, we had a very fine day, and there was a pretty good muster in Mr. Caller's paddock. The cattle, sheep, and horses poured in, and the visitors (through their entrance money) poured out to the tune of £11 15s. The judges for the occasion were Messrs. Bent (from Auckland), Carter and Hunter. There were 14 pens of sheep, the prizes for which were awarded as follows : — Best Ram bred in the district: Mr. Roose. Leicester Ewes : Ist prize, Mr. McKenzie, 2nd prize, Mr. Carter, Hikurangi. Two pens Leicester Hoggetts, bred in the district: Ist prize, Mr. Carter; 2nd prize, Mr. McKenzie. A special prize presented by Mr. Carter, was won by himself. He offered it again, however, for competition. Two pens Lincoln Ewes : Ist prize, Mr. McKenzie; 2nd prize, Mr. Carter. Three pens Ewe Hoggetts (longwool): Ist prize, Mr. McKenzie; 2nd prize, Mr. Carter. Three Leicesters in the same class, and owned by Mr. Carter, were "highly recommended."

Two pens Ram Hoggetts (any breed): Ist prize, Mr. McKenzie ; 2nd prize, Mr. Carter. In these pens Mr. McKenzie's ram took the prize through the particular excellence of its wool. la the other, Mr. Carter's was a superior animal. Two pens Aged Rams: Ist prize, Mr. Carter ; 2nd prize, Mr. Roose. PIGS. The competition in this class was unsatisfactory, the number of animals exhibited being but few. Boars under two years : Ist prize, Mr. Willis; 2nd prize, Mr. Cheesemin._ Mr. Cheeseman was also awarded the prize for the best sow. Messrs. McMurdo and McKenzie's Berkshire boar (the winner of a prize at a pre.vious ehow), was unhappily absent through unforeseen circumstances. CATTLE. The show of cattle was even better than that of sheep. Bulls: let prize, Mr. Carter : 2nd prize, Mr. Cottle: Bulls under two years : let prize, Mr. Carter; 2nd prize, Mr. Roose. Cows in calf or milk: Ist prize, Mr. Taylor; 2nd prize, Mr. Taylor. Heifers under two years : Ist prize, Mr. Carter ; 2nd prize, Mr. Carter. , HORSTES. The entries were good. Roadsters : Ist prize, Mr. McKenzio. Entires (draught) : Ist prize, Mr. McDonald's " Honest Tom" ; 2nd prize, Mr. McKeuzie's "Milo." The two-year-old draught stock were numerous bnt none the less good, and the prizts were awarded thus :—lst prize, Mr. Reed ; 2nd prize, Mr. Cottle. A special prize for Milo's stock was secured by Mr. T. Cottle.

After the cloth had been removed, the following toasts were proposed, drunk in flowing bumpers, and duly responded to : —" The Queen and Royal Family." "The Army and Navy;" responded to by Mr. C. McMurdo. " The Judges ;" responded to by Messrs. Bent, Carter (Ruatangata), and L. Carter (Mangnpai). "The Successful Competitors;" responded to by Messrs. It. Carter (Hikurangi). "'The Unsuccessful Candidates and Strangers ;" responded to by Mr. James. " The Press ;" responded to by Mr. Buckhurst (Comet).
