THE GOLDFIELDS.

[from oub own correspondent.]

TnAMES, Thursday. A meeting of the shareholders in the El Dorado and Rob Roy claims, was held at the office of Mr. J. L. Whitford last evening. It was decided to amalgamate the two claims, and form a company, under the Mining Districts Act, to work the same under the title of the Pandora Gold Mining Company (Limited), with a capital of £18,000 in 18,000 shares ; nil paid up. The following gentlemen were appointed directors :—Messrs. E. Binney, R. Kennan, James Brown, S. Bidell, Leopold Lessong; Mr. J. L. Whitford was appointed manager. Alburnia. Tribute.—Downie and party crushed at the Moanatairi battery 801 bs. stone, and realised 25ozs. gold. Cure. —Owing to repairs to the Tramway battery crushings were delayed till yesterday. There are some 80 tons to hand, and it is expected to yield a good return, as a fair show of specimens have been obtained since the last crushing. Rkd, White, and Blue.—The tributers working this property in connection with the Moanatairi battery have so far been successful that they have undertaken the renovation of the shoots and tramways for delivering theirdirt to the main Moanatairi tramway. As this involves expense to themselves and loss of time, the tribnters will push the improvements on, so that crushing may be sp'eedily resumed. They have a large body of mixed quartz and sandstone, easily broken down from open face, and can be supplied sufficiently for ten head stampers constantly when the improvements are effected. Hitherto tiie stuff has proved profitable to tributers and battery-owners, and with the resumption of crushing, no doubt, will be enhanced in value to both parties.'

The Thames Advertiser has the following respecting the find in the Moanatairi mentioned in our yesterday's impression :— "A fiud which might be justly characterised as one of very considerable importance, -occurred yesterday in the Moanatairi Company's mine in the new low level which is being opened from the shaft at a depth of 80 feet beneath the Kuranui tunnel laveL Itecently, when referring to the operations which are being carriea on from this level we adverted to the fact that the two crosscuts, one of which is going in a northwesterly direction, and the other southeasterly, were in a fine channel of country, which promised well for the existence of gold in any quartz which might be met, but it was not anticipated then that any lode would be intersected before one of the main reefs of the mine, distant about 100 feet from the shaft would be reached. The find, therefore, which took place yesterday, was in a very great measure unexpected. curred in the north-west cross-cut, a distance of 20 feet from the shaft, and consisted, of a fine-looking quartz lode a foot thick, and; showing gold, was cut through. It must not be understood that there have specimens found yet; but the show ofHwld is nevertheless strong and tangible, an* it not only promises well for the lode in which it has been found, but for all the other reefs at this level. The company's crushing is progressing as usual, and is showing up for an average quite equal to that of the last fortnight.
