[Before. Messrs. Donne and A. Beotham, J. P.s.J Assault. —Martin Dwyer was charged with assaulting his wife on tho 24th instant. The prisoner pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Pardy having stated the case, Mrs. Dwyer depose!? that without any provocation on her part, her husband had seized apotstick, a "tormentor," which she had been using in lifting clothes from a boiler, and began belabouring her about the head md face with it. [The apron whkh tho wife had worn at the time the assault was rommitted was produced. It was covered v.'ih large patches of dry blood.] The prisoner was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment with hard labour.
